Founder, Mandy McCracken, had both her hands and feet amputated due to sepsis. After being discharged from hospital in metropolitan Melbourne, she returned home to regional Victoria and a life that was completely foreign to her.

 

Although Mandy had the support of family, she didn't know anyone else who was in a similar position.

Then one day when Mandy wanted to catch the train to the city with her children, she discovered a huge problem. She had no idea how to get her electric wheelchair onto the train carriage!

With no one to call for advice, the idea behind "Get Started" was born.

Mandy's vision is for people with all types of disabilities to have someone to call for advice and support. A local friend who can help them navigate the 'new norm' that is building a life with a disability .
